New helpline number launched by Delhi ACB chief overruled

New Delhi: The tussel between Delhi Government and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung seems to take an ugly turn with Delhi Anti-Corruption Bureau chief MK Meena launching a new helpline number. The move of the ACB chief was quickly overruled by the AAP government which said that the ‘1031’ helpline number stands.

The appointment of the Senior IPS officer as the ACB chief by the Lt Governor was rejected by the AAP government appealed to people to report cases of corruption in the new number which would be operational from the ACB’s office.

The move came after the officer accused the Delhi Government of not transferring calls received on 1031 to the ACB for further action. On the other hand, the government has claimed that Meena is not the Chief of the ACB and he has been assigned to handle training and monitoring of under-trial cases.

In a statement the AAP government said that IPS officer SS Yadav is the Chief of the ACB and any decision regarding the ACB as its chief to be taken by Yadav only.
