Update: Netaji files to be declassified on January 23rd, 2016. Modi assures his family members.
New Delhi: The relatives of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the capital on Wednesday. Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh were also present in the meeting. Netaji’s family presented a designer jacket with the silhouette of Netaji’s profile printed to PM Modi. Netaji’s family asked the Prime Minister to declassify all the files related to him that are with the Centre.
This meeting comes in the backdrop of the unending mystery over Netaji’s death in a plane crash in 1945. Last month, the West Bengal government had declassified 64 files pertaining to the freedom fighter. However, Krishna Bose, widow of Netaji’s nephew, said she had met survivors from the crash and there is no conspiracy.
