Raipur: A police constable was gunned down by Mao ultras in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal infested Bastar district on Thursday.
Constable Manaru Ram Banjam was shot dead by Naxalites in evening while he was attending prayer rituals in a temple at Burgum village under Kodenar police station limits, a senior police official told PTI.
According to police, Banjam, presently posted with the newly set-up Burgum police outpost, was on leave for three days. Armed cadres stormed into the premises and killed him. The body has been recovered by the police, the officer said.
A case has been registered in this connection, he said, adding that a hunt has been launched to nab the assailants.
