Navy intercepts Pak boat off Gujarat coast


Porbandar: A huge consignment of narcotics has been found from a suspected Pakistani boat which was intercepted by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard off the coast of Porbandar in Gujarat on Monday.

More than 200 kg of heroin worth nearly Rs 600 crores was seized from the boat. Eight Pakistani nationals who were on board the boat have been taken into custody.

Investigations are underway over who was supposed to receive the narcotics consignment. Two Indian fishing trawlers have also been intercepted by the coast guard because it was found to be near the Pakistani boat.

The incident comes just months after a Pakistani fishing boat said to be carrying explosives, was intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard before it was blown off.
