Chennai: Governor C Vidyasagar Rao will meet Ms Sasikala at 2 pm on Thursday along with the legislators who are backing her.
The past 24 hours have seen a political churning in Tamil Nadu with caretaker chief minister O Panneerselvam revolting against his party leadership and declaring that he was ready to withdraw his resignation if the party cadre and the public wished him to. AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala, meanwhile garnered the support of a majority of MLAs and hit back at OPS saying the party remained united and that she would certainly become the chief minister of the state.
In the latest development she is set to meet Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday morning, after he arrives in Chennai, to prove that she has the support of majority of the AIADMK MLAs required for her to stake claim to the chief minister’s chair.
VK Sasikala managed a near-perfect attendance for her show of strength on Wednesday morning, establishing her grip on the ruling AIADMK, which has chosen her to be Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. 131 of the party’s 134 legislators attended the conclave where she branded O Panneerselvam, the man she is meant to replace as Chief Minister, as a “liar” who has betrayed the party and its former leader, J Jayalalithaa, who died in December while she was Chief Minister.
