New Delhi: External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday said that “in last three years, about 80,000 Indians stranded abroad have been successfully brought back home.”

“For this, I am thankful first to PM Modi and then to my deputies – Gen VK Singh(retd) and MJ Akbar. PM’s foreign trips have improved our foreign relation and this all was possible,” Sushma said while addressing a press conference on three years of Narendra Modi-led government in India.

She also said that the government simplified passport rules that resulted in 50 per cent increase in applications. On Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), she said, “there has been a record 37.5 per cent increase in last three years.” The Union minister also highlighted the vital role played by her ministry in country’s home affairs.
