New Delhi: Narendranath Dutta, popularly known as Swami Vivekananda, is credited to have introduced the philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the West in the 19th century. It was way back in 1893 that Vivekananda, founder of the Ramakrishna Mission, travelled to Chicago for a Parliament of the World Religions. After years of pioneering great philosophies to the world, he breathed his last on July 4, 1902.
Today, on his 114th death anniversary, many politicians, including HRD Minister Smriti Irani, Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel and All India Congress Committee general secretary CP Joshi, took to Twitter to pay heartfelt tribute to the great leader.
Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (Independent Charge) & Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma wrote: “भारतीयसंस्कृति एवम् चिंतन की विश्व पटल पर पताका लहराने वाले युगपुरूष स्वामी विवेकानंद जी को शत्-शत् नमन (I salute the great man who waved the flag of Indian culture and thought on a global level)”
“Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal also posted series of tweets: “We pay tribute to Swami Vivekanand Ji on his death anniversary. May his vision keep guiding our path.”
“He started a movement for the upliftment of women in India.He said”All nations have attained greatness by paying respect to women”.
“He also said, “That country and that nation which does not respect women have never become great, nor will ever be in future.”
