Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress MP Aparupa Poddar on Thursday morning appears before Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Narada sting operation case.
Poddar was purportedly seen in the Narada News cash-for-favour “sting” operation accepting money.
According to sources Poddar may have met Narada News CEO and Editor Mathew Samuel at Panchayat Deputy Chief Iilyas Chowdhury’s residence in 2014 26th April.
Earlier on August a CBI team had questioned Poddar at her own house which is situated in Rishra, Hooghly district in connection with the Narada case.
Even Poddar on the month of April moved to the Calcutta High Court seeking quashing of a CBI FIR against her in the Narada sting case.
The Narada News tape which was released ahead of the 2016 assembly elections in West Bengal, showed TMC leaders allegedly receiving money from representatives of a fictitious company for future favours.
TMC leaders booked by the CBI include Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy, Lok Sabha MPs Saugata Roy, Aparupa Poddar, Sultan Ahmed, Prasun Banerjee and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
Others named are West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Environment Minister Sovan Chatterjee, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee, former Minister Madan Mitra, MLA Iqbal Ahmed and IPS officer SMH Mirza.
