Naga Insurgent Group NSCN-K Chief Passes Away


Naypyidaw: Chief of Naga insurgent group NSCN-K SS Khaplang dead. NSCN-K Chairman SS Khaplang passed away due to a diabetic stroke, in Myanmar.

The chief of banned outfit NSCN (K), S S Khaplang, died on Friday due to a prolonged illness. Khaplang was responsible for several attacks on secuity forces in the northeast over the years. The chief of Naga rebel outfit was wanted by NIA for the 2015 attack on an Army convoy in which 18 soldiers were killed. Following the attack, the Army had carried surgical strikes across the border in Myanmar and had destroyed several camps of the terror outfit.

Khaplang signed a ceasefire agreement with Myanmar in February, 2015 and ended the agreement with India in March. Soon after, his men launched an offensive against Indian forces.
