New Delhi: A Naga delegation on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and emphasized their commitment to peace in the Northeastern region.
The six-member delegation of Naga Hoho was led by its president Chuba Ozukum. “The members appreciated the Prime Minister’s vision of development of the North-East. They emphasized their commitment to peace in the entire Northeastern region,” a PMO statement said.
Naga Hoho is the apex body of various Naga tribes.
The meeting came close on the heels of the Indian army carrying out a cross-border surgical strike in Myanmar to hunt down Naga terrorists belonging to NSCN(K) outfit who were suspected to be behind the June 4 ambush in Manipur in which 18 soldiers were killed.
Representatives of Naga Hoho along with various other Naga NGOs had recently gone to Bangkok for the Naga Consultative Meet hosted by NSCN (I-M), which was flayed by NSCN(K).
