Mumbaikars face the heat as Auto and Taxis go on strike


Mumbai: It was a tough time for the Mumbaikars in the beginning of the week as the Auto-rickshaws and taxis attached to the ‘Swabhiman Union’ in Mumbai began a day-long strike. The strike was undertaken to press for their demands of banning the entry of mobile application-based cabs such as Uber, Ola and Meru Plus into the city.

According to reports, Swabhiman Union has over 18,000 auto rickshaws and 12,000 taxis under its aegis.The largest auto union in the city, led by Shashank Rao, is likely to go on a strike from June 17.
