Mumbai Hooch toll touches 94, 45 still critical


Mumbai: Mumbai hooch toll has climbed up to 94.  The number of persons critically ill has also climbed to 45. The ill persons have been kept at eight different hospitals. The Mumbai police earlier arrested five people on charges of selling the contaminated liquor. They have been sent to police custody till June 26.

Eight police officers have also been suspended on the grounds of negligence and connivance while four officials of the excise department have also been suspended on grounds of negligence.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavishas already ordered a probe into the hooch trgedy and police has been asked to submit a report as soon as possible. The case has been transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch.

The victims of the tragedy on Wednesday consumed liquor at a shop in Malvani and fell sick on the next day.
