Mumbai Court To Decide Fate Of Pratyusha’s Last Film

Mumbai: Controversy over a short film featuring deceased television actress Pratyusha Banerjee reached the Dindoshi Sessions Court, which issued a stay order on Friday. Titled Hum Kuch Keh Na Sakey, the 10-minute movie is said to be the last work of the actress, who allegedly committed suicide on April 1 2016.

When Pratyusha’s ‘bestie’, actress Kamya Punjabi shared plans of unveiling the film on Saturday as a tribute, her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh called it a publicity stunt and argued the video had been made using old footage.

After registering a complaint with Versova police, Rahul filed an injunction petition in court through his lawyer, Shreyansh Mithare. The matter was heard on Friday morning.

Hum Kuch Keh… revolves around heartbreak and depression, apparently the reasons behind Pratyusha’s shocking death.

In the injunction application, Rahul states Kamya has also uploaded a video of the short film on YouTube and that an abusive character is named after him. It shows Pratyusha being mistreated by ‘Rahul’ and then drowning in depression. The film, Rahul argues, is defamatory and prejudices people’s minds.

On the day of her death anniversary Kamya also tweeted, Ek saal ho gaye…. pagal kahi ki…. bas tu khush rehna yaara!
