Kolkata: BJP president Dilip Ghosh has hailed Roy as a leader of great stature and it would be fitting for the party to have him in an appropriate place. He also gave a clean chit to the Saradha and Narada accused Roy, saying that he was only accused, not convicted and he has proved his innocence.
“Nobody has seen Roy taking money in the video footage of Narada sting operation,” Ghosh argued in favour of the suspended Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP.
Meanwhile, Roy lauded Ghosh for the aggressive way he was fighting the Trinamool Congress.
According to the India Today report speculation is running high as to which position Roy would be rehabilitated. According to BJP insiders, Roy is likely to get the status of national general secretary. The principal task laid down for Roy would be to poach leaders and cadres from Trinamool Congress. He will also be entrusted to form the booth committees and improve the party’s position in the 2018 panchayat polls.
A BJP leader said that Roy’s acumen, his electioneering machinery in conducting election is tested and the party is planning to make use of it. The panchayat poll would be Roy’s litmus test before he’s chosen for bigger responsibilities.
Meanwhile the BJP has already started counting chickens yet-to-be-hatched in its coop, following Mukul’s exit from Trinamool Congress and the loyalists, he can bring with him.
Keeping a watch over everything, especially who is going where, the ruling party has engaged the state administration. Though names of the fence-sitters are not coming to the fore, BJP is already floating a few names, much to the discomfiture of them.
One such name is transport minister Suvendu Adhikary. Ghosh is praising him and even Mukul Roy a few days ago had said that Adhikari was the brightest leader among the current crop.
