Kolkata: Amid recent speculation of forming a new party the fallen angel of Trinamool Congress, Mukul Roy has embarked on a three day North Bengal tour from Thursday sparking fresh calculations.
Mukul’s visit prior to the crucial assembly polls in Bengal is seen by many as an attempt to bolster his hold in North Bengal and a step forward in declaring a news party.
Despite all he speculation Mukul Roy has neither denied nor confirmed the formation a new party and kept a tactical silence on the matter.
Before leaving for Darjeeling Mukul addressing the media said, “The visit is totally a formal one; it has nothing to do with politics. I am in politics for too long and received immense love and affection from the people of North Bengal.”
On the other hand no Trinamool leaders from Darjeeling were present at Bagdogra airport to receive Mukul, as perceived. Interestingly BJP leader Harisadhan Ghosh received Mukul Roy at the airport. Ghosh, former Trinamool member has been known as a Mukul aide.
However, it is still not clear whether Mukul will hold a meet with disgruntled Bimal Gurung. Aa per his schedule Mukul will offer prayer at the Mahakal Temple in Darjeeling and will leave for Doars in the evening.
