Kolkata: BJP leader Mukul Roy accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for being
responsible for the Majerhaat bridge collapse. Soon after the mishap, Roy said,
“The state government and the CM is responsible for the bridge accident.”
Mukul Roy, while lashing out at Mamata, said, “They are saying that the city is
being redecorated. But, no one remembers the preservatuon of the old things.” Roy
thinks that the state government must take complete responsibility for the mishap.
Apart from him, BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha also demanded compensation for
the deceased and blamed the state government for the mishap.
Train services have been shut down soon after the Majherhaat bridge collapsed on
Tuesday evening. The Budge budge train line is just under the bridge. All train
services in the Sealdah division has been shut down as a result. The Majherhaat
station is just beside the Majerhaat bridge. The railway officials have also
reached the spot.
A large portion of the bridge fell down trapping several vehicles including cars,
mini-bus under it. Casualties feared. The disaster management team, police, fire
tending officials are trying to rescue the injured.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on her way to Kolkata from Darjeeling. She is
closely monittoring the situation through her ministers.
