English Bazar: While the citizens of Bengal are enjoying the most in this festive season, a family is mourning the tragic suicide of their 19-year-old son over a petty issue.
Partho Saha, a resident Krishna Kalitala locality, hung himself after his mother refused to give him Rs 4,000 to buy clothes for the auspicious occasion of Shashti Pooja.
Saha was found hanging in his bedroom by one of his family members. Partho’s father Balai Saha, a rickshaw puller, said that his son had demanded the money but his wife refused it by saying that the family could not afford such expenses.
Saha’s mother Jayanti added that she had given him Rs 1,000, but he was adamant and insisted that he should be given Rs 4,000. On Wednesday, soon after Jayanti left for work her daughter-in-law informed her that Partho had hung himself using her saree.
The body was noticed by her other son Nimai.
The family immediately informed the police. Partho was rushed to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead. The English Bazar Police said that the autopsy of the dead body will be conducted on Wednesday and further actions will be taken after the postmortem report.
