Kolkata: Flight operations at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport in Kolkata are disrupted for several hours on Thursday morning due to immense fog.
The dense fog caused poor visibility at runways, compelling authorities to delay the first set of morning flights for more than two hours.
For flight operations to commence, minimum visibility requirement is 350 meters, whereas, visibility today morning was only 50 meters.
IndiGo also announced of its flights 6E 6523, CCU-IMF On 15th March is delayed from Kolkata airport including Kolkata- Port Blair, Kolkata- Guwahati, Kolkata- Agartala, Kolkata – Mumbai, Kolkata- Ranchi and Kolkata – Imphal flights of Spice Jets and Air- Asia are scheduled to delay.
With hours of delay of flights, Kolkata airport has literally turned into a railway station or bus stand from last two hours. Over hundreds of passengers are seen waiting at the airport at any given point of time.
