More Govt buses to ply on Bandh Day

Kolkata: The state government will be leaving no stones unturned to ensure that normalcy is not hampered during the general strike called by the Left Front. Transport Secretary Alapan Banerjee on Monday called a meeting to discuss the condition of transport which will prevail in the city dtreets during the Bandh. He held meeting with the other officials of the Transport Department and also with various other transport organization.

It is being expected the city will be coming to a standstill due to the bandh called by the left front. The transport department will try to ply as many as government buses possible on the city streets on the day of the Bandh. The government has assured that all steps will be taken to maintain normalcy on the roads, although the bus and taxi associations have claimed that they have not got any insurance assurance from the government.

On the other hand, the taxi union has already called for a strike on 2 and 3 September. Since their demands have not been fulfilled the Taxi owners have declared that no taxi will be plying on the streets in these two days.
