Monsoon to hit Kerala by June 3

Kochi: Bringing somewhat respite to the nation,  the Kerala MeT department on Friday said the monsoon is likely to hit the state’s coast before June 3. An overcast sky over Alappuzha has also given hope to the people, who are eagerly awaiting the monsoons to seek some respite from the heat wave.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier on Friday stated there is a considerable respite from the heat wave across the country barring a few areas in Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. The scorching heat wave has claimed 429 more lives in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, taking the total death toll in the two states this season to a massive 1,774.
