Kolkata: Kolkata Police on Friday booked India pacer Mohammed Shami and four others under various non-bailable and bailable sections after his wife Hasin Jahan lodged a complaint of domestic violence and infidelity against the cricketer.
Kolkata Police Jt. Cp Crime has informed that the Women Grievance cell of Kolkata Police will start to investigate the whole matter. The team likely to start the investigation and will record the statement of the victim.
Meanwhile, in a major breakthrough to the incident, the cricketer was booked followed by an FIR, registered with sections of the Indian Penal Code related to domestic violence, criminal intimidation, attempt to murder, and causing hurt with poison.
Kolkata Police on Friday took the major step after Jahan filed a complaint against Shami in Lalbazar police station. Police have used non-bailable sections against Shami, according to Jahan’s lawyer Zakhir Hossain.
On Wednesday Jahan took to social media platform Facebook and posted a few screenshots of text messages allegedly sent by Shami to various women. The post showcases a series of photographs of the women and their phone numbers. Jahan complained that Shami and his family members were torturing her both mentally and physically.
Apparently, Shami’s brother Hasib Ahmad is also charged with section 376 (rape). As per media reports, Hasib raped Jahan when she went to her in-law’s place in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.
