New Delhi: The Four Day long Republic Day celebration concluded on Thursday with ‘ Beating Retreat Ceremony ‘ as splendid performances by military bands and musicians.
Lilting martial tunes and massed pipes and drum bands reverberated the air as the majestic Raisina Hills was lit up as part of the Beating the Retreat ceremony in New Delhi, marking the end of Republic Day celebrations. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Manohar Parrikar Defence Minister attended the ceremony that saw military bands, pipes and drums bands and bands of Navy and Air Force enchanting the audience.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has announced results of different competitive presentations in the Republic Day Parade. Among the Services category, Brigade of Guards Regiment and Sikh Regiment were jointly adjudged the best marching contingents while in paramilitary forces and other auxiliary marching contingents, Central Industrial Security Force contingent has been declared the best contingent.
In the tableaux category, the first position has gone to Maharashtra whereas Jharkhand was declared second followed by Karnataka.
In the category of school children items, the ‘daang Dance’ of Gujarat presented by the Zonal Cultural Centre Udaipur has been adjudged best.
