Modi’s ‘four’fold agreement with Sri Lanka

Colombo: PM Modi met his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe and agreements on visa, customs, youth development and agreement to build Rabindranath Tagore Memorial has been signed. Prime Minister Modi holds delegation level talks with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. India and Sri Lanka have signed 4 pacts including visa, customs and youth development.

An agreement to build Rabindranath Tagore Memorial has also been signed.

Speaking at the joint press conference with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India stands ready to help Trincomalee become a petroleum hub.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a long term solution to address the fishermen issue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India will extend tourist visa on arrival to Sri Lankan citizens.

Terming the decision of setting up a joint task force on ocean economy as significant, PM Modi has said that ocean economy is a new frontier that holds enormous promise for both India and Sri Lanka. PM Modi has said the agreement on cooperation between the custom authorities will simplify trade and reduce non-tariff barriers on both sides. To give further impetus to India-Sri Lanka ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended support in providing a fresh line of credit of up to 318 million US dollars for the railways sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka have agreed to enter into a Currency Swap Agreement which will help keep the Sri Lankan rupee stable. PM Modi asserted that India stands with Sri Lanka in new peace mission, equality for all including Sri Lankan Tamils and implementation of 13th Amendment.
