New Delhi: The BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been spending hugely on advertisements and publicity. As per some reports citing RTI reply, in the last four years, the BJP government has spent more that Rs 4,340 crore. And it seems the saffron party has been successful as the party has emerged as the top brand on television in the country.
According to the data provided by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, BJP has become the top TV brand, leaving behind Netflix, Trivago and Amazon. Not only this, but no other political parties feature in the list except Modi’s BJP.
BARC India is a joint industry company founded by stakeholder bodies that represent broadcasters, advertisers, and advertising and media agencies.
According to the BARC’s data for the 46th week (10 to 16 November), BJP holds the top spot in BARC’s list of top 10 brands with 22099 impressions. Impressions indicate the number of times an advertisement is aired on TV.
It is followed by Netflix (12951 impressions), Trivago (12795 impressions), Santoor Sandals and Turmeric, Dettol Liquid Soap, Wipe, Colgate Dental Cream, Dettol Toilet Soaps, Amazon Prime Video, and Roop Mantra Ayur Face Cream.
This comes as a major boost for the party before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
The main opposition party Congress led by Rahul Gandhi holds no position in the list.
The BJP has moved a notch higher against Congress and other parties with advertisements across several states. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram are under the poll process.
