Modi Says Get Rid of ‘Chalta Hain Attitude’

New Delhi: India celebrates 70 years of Independence today and celebrations have started with the traditional hoisting of the Tricolour at Red Fort in New Delhi from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation. “The ‘chalta hai; attitude will not work anymore. We have to get rid of this mindset. We have to take this country ahead with a new determination and vigour,” Modi said.

PM Modi talks about New India, says people have to take the nation forward together. “India showed the power of unity from 1942-1947. For the next five years, we have to show the same unity to usher in a New India. This New India will see India dominate the field of science and technology, this New India will see the rise of women power. This New India will give equal opportunities to all India, irrespective of their religion or region,” says PM Narendra Modi.

PM Narendra Modi begins addressing the nation, begins with greetings to the nation. “On behalf of 1.25 crore Indians, I bow to those who have sacrificed for the nation and suffered hardships.” PM Modi expresses grief over the raging flood in Gujarat and Assam, and condoles the deaths of children in Gorakhpur.

PM Narendra Modi has reached Red Fort which has been decked up in saffron, white and green for the landmark day. The PM is inspecting the inter-services Guard of Honour, which includes a Delhi Police contingent, at the Lahor Gate of the Red Fort. He is accompanied by Guard Commander Lt Colonel Dheeraj Singh.
