Moscow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed a joint press conference in Moscow. Modi Started with Mr President, thank you for generous and warm hospitality. Your leadership has put our relation on correct course. My condolences to loss of Russian lives in an air crashes in Egypt and Syria.
Our relationship has been a source of strength in defence and diplomacy. We had excellent conversation over the past two days and productive outcomes. We have laid the foundation of the future of this strategic partnership. The inter-government agreement for the helicopter is the first Make In India defence partnership. Russia is the most important defence partner. The pace of nuclear cooperation is increasing.
With one of the world’s largest reserves of hydrocarbons, Russia is a great partner in energy security. President Putin and I are moving creatively in expanding economic relations. We have high degree of convergence on global issues. We are one in our belief that the world must unite in combatting terrorism without discrimination among terrorist groups and target countries. I look forward to welcome President Putin for BRICS summit next year in India.
The pace of our nuclear energy is increasing. We are making progress on 12 Russian nuclear reactors at 2 sites. As I look to the future, I see Russia as a significant partner in India’s economic transformation and in shaping a balanced, multi-polar world. The Agreement on the manufacture of Kamov 226 helicopter in India is the first project for a major defence platform under the #MakeinIndia mission.
Mr President, I have great respect and appreciation for our strategic partnership. It has been a source of strength and success for India.
