Kolkata: Taking a U turn from her three year back behaviour, West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee has decided to be present at the airport by herself to receive PM Modi on his arrival to Kolkata. Three years ago, in June 2012, chief minister Mamata Banerjee broke protocol. She did not receive Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the airport during his Kolkata visit. But the CM will be there at the airport this time when PM Narendra Modi comes visiting on May 9.
Not only will Mamata be present at the airport on her own to vreceive Modi, but also she has postponed her Asansol tour on May 5 for five days to time her programme with the PM’s Asansol visit on May 10. Prior to this, Mamata’s party threw the lifeline to the Modi government in passing two crucial bills — Coal Mines Bill, Mines and Minerals Bill. Mamata’s party has also given in-principle support to the Modi government over the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST). If things go according to plan, Mamata will be playing a key role in shaping India’s relations with Bangladesh.
