Modi expresses solidarity with Nepal on ‘Maan Ki Baat’


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with the people of the earthquake devastated Nepal in his monthly Radio programme ‘Maan Ki Baat, through which he addresses the Nation.

Addressing the Nation through the Programme he said, “I assure my brothers and sisters of Nepal that India will stand by their side to overcome this tragedy. On Saturday, earthquake shook the world. I can understand their pain as have witnessed a similar earthquake. Our first task is to rescue people. Many people are still trapped underneath debris. After rescue operation, we’ll begin relief work and after that rehabilitation work will continue for long.”

Speaking about Operation Rahat, he said that India was widely applauded for the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of External Affairs, Air Force and the Indian Navy in the rescue operations not only for the Indians but also for the nationals of other countries.

The rescue operations are in full swing in Nepal. Nearly 1900 people have been reported dead till now in the Himalayan country. India has extended full support to its neighbour in the rescue operations and the rehabilitation programme. Earthquake was reported in Kathmandu even of Sunday morning.
