Modi banks on ‘Win-Win combination’ with Canada

Ottawa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongwith his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper addressed Indian diaspora at a grand community function at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto amidst colourful cultural programmes and says that India and Canada make win-win combination.It was a colourful cultural fiesta at Ricoh Coliseum in downtown Toronto. Thousands of admirers thronged the community reception akin to the grand Sydney and New York’s Madison Square Garden events, a glittering dance and music show organised by the Indian community and it was just the beginning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand address to the Indian diaspora.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper addressed the massive gathering and invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak amidst loud chants of ‘Modi-Modi’. The Prime Minister started his speech by greeting the people in Punjabi and thanked Canadians for their grand welcome to him. Prime Minister said that air connectivity has reduced the distance between two countries but it took 42 years for an Indian Prime Minister to visit Canada. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Indians have made a mark in Canada.

Recollecting his experience of working with Canada since the time when he was the chief minister of Gujarat, he said India and Canada together can become a great power in the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said all needs that India require can be provided by Canada. During his over an hour-long speech talking about Swachh Bharat campaign, Prime Minister Modi said India is a large country and it takes time to clean it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that 4 lakh people have given up their gas subsidies which depicts the collective spirit of the people. Prime Minister also highlighted the prestigious Jan Dhan Yojana during his speech. The Prime Minister said that 14 crore bank accounts have been opened in a span of days which is thrice the population of Canada. Talking about the skill development programmes in India, Prime Minister Modi said India aims to become a hub of job creators and supply the skilled people to the world in various fields. Prime Minster also hailed the talent of Indians during his address to the Indian diaspora. He said Mangalyaan-the mars mission is the proof and there is no dearth of talent in India.

Modi also highlighted the talent of IT professionals working in Canada and United States of America. He said India should reach a position to produce the likes of Google and Microsoft. Prime Minister also spoke about the concept of four coloured revolution- the colors which are seen in the Indian national flag. Also Prime Minister during his speech said global warming is an important issue to be tackled and it is the need of the hour. He also said India will make nuclear reactors without harming the nature. While addressing the gathering Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Prime Minister said 17000 people have been rescued without seeing ‘colour’ of passport.
