Mumbai: Mithali Raj, captain of the Indian women’s cricket team is a title holder of many firsts. Not only has she made the country proud on many occasions, but soon a biopic will be made on her life story. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Mithali revealed that she would want Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra to play her in the upcoming biopic.
The 35-year-old cricketer said, “I think Priyanka Chopra will be a great choice (to play me in the biopic). Our personalities match a lot. I am not a movie buff, so I’d love the experts to do their job,” reports Mid-Day.
Mithali’s biopic is being produced by Viacom 18. She also revealed that the film is currently in the scripting stage and once it is done she will have a look at it and see if there is something that she would want the makers to add. Mithali has also helped them with the research work.
The biopic will go on floors in 2019. Apart from this, the cricketer will also be releasing her autobiography in September.
If the Quantico star gets finalised for the role, then this will be her second biopic. Earlier, the 35-year-old actress was seen essaying the role of the Indian boxer Mary Kom in her biopic. The 2014 sports drama was directed by Omung Kumar and was a massive hit at the box office.
On the work front, Priyanka will be next seen in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial Bharat that stars Salman Khan as the male lead. The film will also feature Bollywood actress Disha Patani.
Apart from Bharat, Priyanka will also be seen in the Hollywood movie A Kid Like Jake that is being helmed by Silas Howard. The flick also stars Jim Parsons, Claire Danes and Octavia Spencer in vital roles.
