Anand: A terrible road accident killed six people and injured another ten when the jeep they were travelling collided with a speeding truck near Mahemdavad town of Kheda district on Friday.
The incident took place on the road connecting Kheda to Mahemdavad, at around 6 AM when the vehicle carrying a group of labourers from Rajasthan’s Banswada district was travelling to Bhavnagar and was hit by a truck coming from opposite direction, Mahemdavad police station sub-inspector G P Parmar said.
The labourers were travelling to Bhavnagar along with their families in search of employment. Primary investigations revealed that the truck driver might have lost control as he dozed off and rammed the truck into the jeep, the officer said. Four persons, including two children, died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital, Parmar said.
