Kolkata: A minor girl has been seriously injured decending from a Joy-Ride in a fair. The incident took place on Friday night at Bhu-Kailash Rajbari in Khidirpur. The name of the five year old girl is Samriddhi Mishra.
The South Port police station of Kolkata has started an investigation into the incident. Police sources said work has been started to assess the security measures of the Joy Ride.
According to the local sources, on the occasion of Shivratri, every year a big fair is held in Bhu-kailash Rajbari. She came to that fair on Friday night. She is a resident of Tiljala area. His uncle’s house is in Khidirpur. The girl came here to visit the fair with her mother and two neighbors. She took the electronic joy-ride with other two. Samriddhi’s mother did not get up in the ride.
Eyewitnesses says, suddenly she has dropped out of the ride. Her forehead started bleeding. Immediately, the girl was taken to SSKM hospital. From there, she was taken to a private hospital. Family sources said, Samriddhi’s treatment going on in a hospital. Her injuries are serious. The hospital sources said that she is still unconscious.
On the other hand, after the incident, the police of south port station went there and shut the fair. The investigation has started on the issue of security in Joy Rides.
However,the concerned authority said, Mela Joyrides are like that. It used to get a samall space in a fair ground. As a result, there is no surveillance of police in the ground. In fact, there have been accidents in Joy Ride more than once. Many have died.
