Chandigarh: Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju took to the skies in a Sukhoi-30MKI supersonic fighter jet from the Halwara airbase today in Punjab.
After his flight, Rijiju said, “It was an amazing experience like no other. Your body weight is different. Airforce plot were very happy. You need to be fit.”
Rijiju, 45, became the third minister to fly in Sukhoi-30MKI, the most potent fighter in the IAF combat fleet, after Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Rao Inderjit Singh. Former Presidents like APJ Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil also flew in the fighter in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
