Malda: Health Minister of State Chandrima Bhattacharya faced major protests while
she went to the Malda Medical College and Hospital. The family members of patients
protested against the hospital’s service.
Chandrima Bhattacharya went to the hospital on Wednesday morning. She convened a
meeting with the official of district health department and district administration
officials. After this, she praised the hospital’s services and went to visit the
maternity ward. There the relatives of the patients wanted to speak with the
minister. But the minister refused to speak to them and wanted to leave. Following
this the relatives allegedly started protesting.
The minister somehow left the hospital amidst the major chaos. To control the
situation, district magistrate Koushik Bhattacharya met the relatives and brought
the situation under control.
The minister said that keeping the patients in mind, the state government is
providing good health services free of cost.
The DM suggested increasing of beds after the protests. The minister assured and
said it will happen soon.
