Update: The death toll has reached 13.
Srinagar: In a shocking incident, at least 8 people died and several others went
missing after a mini-bus skidded off the road and rolled down into Chenab river at
Thakrie in Kishtwar district on Friday.
According to an official, 8 bodies were recovered duting the searh operation. The
search operation was launched by the Jammu and Kashmir police along with the
locals. The official further stated that 25 people were on board the bus when the
mishap took place.
According to the police, the mini bus went out of the driver’s control and rolled
down into the Chenab River at Thakrie in the district.
“So far, eight bodies have been recovered. Rescue operation is on to trace the
“Reports indicate there were 25 passengers in the vehicle when it met with the
accident”, police said.
