Cairo: A military helicopter has crashed in Egypt on Saturday as militants continue to target security forces in the country.
Mohamed Samir, a spokesperson for the armed forces, said the helicopter went down on the desert road from Ismailia to Cairo today.
He said a “technical malfunction” caused it to suddenly lose altitude in a rural area in Giza governate.
The helicopter was on a reconnaissance mission northeast of Cairo in the Ismailia province, the military said in a statement. It said crew members were injured, without specifying the number hurt or the severity.
