Srinagar: A gun battle between security forces and militants is under way in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pinglan area in Pulwama district. Four Army jawans have been injured during the encounter.
The encounter broke out on Monday morning in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after the Pakistan-based outfit’s Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants fired upon security forces. The terrorists are believed to have links with Adil Ahmad Dar, the JeM suicide bomber involved in the Pulwama terror attack.
The four injured jawans have been taken to an Army hospital in Srinagar.
The encounter comes less than a week after the deadly terror attack orchestrated by the JeM in Pulwama’s Awantipora area, in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. On February 14, 40 CRPF personnel were killed after Dar rammed an explosive-laden car into a vehicle in a CRPF convoy in Pulwama district.
While 40 were killed in the attack, several injured personnel continue to battle for their lives. While Pakistan has denied any role in the attack, India has sent a stern warning to its neighbour.
