Militants Open Fire In Assam’s Market Area, 14 Dead

Guwahati: Fourteen civilians were killed after a group of terrorists on Friday resorted to indiscriminate firing at a crowded market area in Assam’s Kokrajhar.

According to reports, 15 others were seriously wounded. Security forces and NIA have rushed to the spot and are carrying out an operation to neutralise the terrorists. The reports added that one terrorist has been neutralised until now and at least 3-4 terrorist carried out the attack. The identity of the terrorists still remain unknown.

Meanwhile, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal has briefed Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the incident. National Democratic Front of Bodo Land has claimed responsibility for the attack.
