Militants Kill 2 Civilians In Kashmir


Srinagar: A Hurriyat activist was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Bomai area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.

Reports reaching said that the gunmen fired upon the hurriyat activist namely Hakeem ur Rehman Sultani in Bomai area of Sopore outskirts. In the incident Sultani suffered serious head injuries and was taken to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.

A senior police officer also confirmed the incident and said that the police has reached the spot and launched searches to nab the attackers.

In another incident, suspected militants shot and killed a person near Nasim Bagh
area of Hazratbal in Srinagar. The identity of the slain was being ascertained. The
forces cordoned off the area to nab attackers.

On the basis of ID card recovered from the slain militant, he has been identified
as Ishfaq Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat of Awantipora South Kashmir. Ahmad was a student of Islamic University. The police started further investigation.

This is the 2nd killing since Saturday morning. SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray told that police team reached the spot immediately and recovered the body for legal medical formalities.

SSP further said that one pistol along with two magazines were recovered from the possession of the deceased.

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation were taken up to ascertain the incident.
