Kolkata: The investigation followed by the collapse of Majerhat Bridge has sparked political battle regarding the ownership of responsibility. A part of people are underlining the ongoing East-West metro work. Railway authority has given the charge to investigate the mishap. In preliminary report RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) informed that there ‘s no link of Metro work with the collapse of bridge.
A three members delegation team has visited the spot. Initially RITES informed , the disaster happened as the maintenance work was in halt. The upper part of the bridge was coated with thin layer of coal tar.
West Bengal government has handed the charge of investigation to CID. Mamata Banerjee will meet the victims on Wednesday evening. On the early morning on the same day Roopa Ganguly visited the spot. She firmly stated that, “the under-construction pillar has not affected the bridge.Lack of reformation standing high behind the incident.”
