Mumbai: The metro services in Mumbai has been suspended for seven and a half hours on Sunday as the Commissioner for Metro Rail safety will be conducting a statutory safety inspection on the 11.4 Km Mumbai Metro One corridor which connects Versova with Ghatkopar.
The inspection will be conducted in connection with the proposed increase of maximum speed of metro trains from 50Kmph to 60 Kmph.
Various trial runs would be conducted due to during the exercise to check the preparedness of of Mumbai Metro to increase its speed.
MMOPL spokesperson said, “We regret inconveniences to the commuters due to the statutory requirements, which are intended for better commuter services. We are communicating the information to our commuters through various means such as public announcements, signage at the strategic points in and around metro stations social media etc.”
