New Delhi: The Supreme Court is expected to hear the petition of Yakub Memon, a death row convict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. It will be the last attempt by Memon to escape the noose. If the court rejects his curative petition, the blast convict is scheduled to be hanged on July 30.
Memon is currently lodged in Nagpur Central Jail where he will be hanged if the court rejects his plea. A family member met Memon at the prison on Monday.
Yakub’s cousin Usman Memon, accompanied by a local lawyer, arrived at the Central Prison in the afternoon.
His mercy petition was rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee in April following which he filed his second petition before before the Supreme Court.
