Kolkata: Narada CEO Matthew Samuel is likely to be arrested.
Lalabazar had sent notices to Matthew twice to appear before Lalbazar. But Matthew replied to the email that since the case was going on in the High court, hence it was not possible for him to appear before Lalbazar. Post this incident, Lalbazar had started all preparations to arrest him. To evade the arrest, Matthew’s lawyer appeared in the court on Monday.
Arunava Ghosh, Matthew’s lawyer, requested for the intervention of the bench under the chief justice. He said that already a PIL was going on in the High Court. Inspite of that, summons was being sent repeatedly to Matthew. Manjulla Chellur, Chief Justice, has asked Matthew to submit his opinion in writing. The next hearing has been schedule for Wednesday.
The Kolkata Police had sent a legal notice to Matthew on 21st July asking him to appear before Lalbazar within 7 days for questioning on the Narada issue. On reply to the 2 emails sent by Kolkata Police for his summon, Matthew said that he did not receive any letter from Kolkata Police. He also said that he was not even contacted through phone. The case is already under the High Court. He said that he has already submitted all documents as per orders by the judge. He also said that the decision that would be taken by the High Court would be final.
