Manila: Dozens of people are feared dead after a fire swept through a footwear factory in the Philippine capital Manila, local officials have said.

More than 60 people working at the factory in the northern suburb of Valenzuela were reported missing by relatives, the region’s mayor said. But fire officials fighting the blaze found no survivors inside.

The blaze is thought to have been started by sparks from welding work inside the building.
