Massive Fire In Firework Factory Of Sonnarpur, 10 Injured


Kolkata: After repeated explosion a massive fire broke out in a firework factory in Gobindapur area of Sonnarpur in South 24 Paragana on Sunday afternoon.

At least ten people were injured in this incident, three were critical injured among whom one succumbed to his injury. The deceased’s name Debashis Sardar Four fire tenders reached the spot immediately. Later the Sonnarpur police said that the factory owner had been held and being questioned. “The factory is licensed but we are checking the details,” he added.

The fire broke out in since morning on this day after some fireworks exploded inside the factory. Walls of some houses in the area have cracked due to this incident. After the police reached the spot locals started showing protest against the firework factory owner Tarun Banerjee. The injured were taken to the Baruipur District Hospital. Huge police forces have reached the spot to take the situation under their control.

Locals claimed that the factory was illegally run by the owner, earlier also fire broke out here but no action was made against the factory owner. Based on this police has started their investigation and they are trying to trace the owner. There were repeated blasts as stored explosives caught fire. “I heard loud noises and even nearby houses almost shook (due to the blasts),” said an area resident.
