Massive Fire Engulfs Gas Warehouse In Kolkata, 3 Dead

Update: 2 burnt bodies were brought out of the go down, officially the death toll as 2.

Kolkata: A massive fire broke out at a gas cylinder warehouse at Tangra on Thursday, with several people reportedly injured.

The fire broke out at a gas cylinder’s warehouse at the Tangra and China Town meeting point. 8 fire tenders were immediately pressed into service. The fire officials have started using foam to douse the flames and bring it under immediate control. The disaster management team has also reached the spot.

The intensity of the fire is such that it is spreading fast to its adjoining areas. As per sources, a mobile tower adjacent to the warehouse is completely gutted due to the fire. As a result, panic has spread among locals in the Christopher Road at Tiljalaa. This has lead to huge traffic there too. All roads from Tangra to Sealdah have been closed.
