Massive Cocaine Cache Hauled on Bengal-Bangladesh Border

Kolkata: In one of the biggest seizure, 10 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs. 40 crore has been seized at the border between Bangladesh and West Bengal, making it the biggest haul ever in northern India.

Acting on a tip-off, the Border Security Force or BSF made the seizure on Wednesday.

A truck with a West Bengal number plate was coming from Bangladesh and was being driven by Suman Sil, a 22-year-old resident of a village in North 24 Parganas district.

On getting the information of a high value consignment being smuggled, BSF troops launched a special operation team at Petrapole at 6 pm on Wednesday and began searching all incoming vehicles.

In the suspected truck, a sealed, covered bag containing some unknown powder, weighing 10 kilograms, was spotted, following which the BSF immediately informed Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Kolkata.

After tests, the NCB confirmed the substance found in the bag was cocaine.
