Mumbai: In a shocking incident of sexual assault of minors,12 tribal girls were raped by the school staff in Ninadhi Ashram School in Buldhana area of Maharashtra .Police have arrested 11 people in relation to the crime and out of which, seven are said to be their teachers while the others are staffers of the school.
The Maharashtra DGP has also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
The issue came to light when one of the girls visited her family for Diwali and complained to stomach ache. Reports suggest that she was found to be pregnant. When an inquiry was initiated by her parents, more of such cases came forward. Also two more girls are believed to be pregnant as per sources.
Sources add that the 12 girls have been sent to a hospital in the Akola district, while the families of the girls have registered a complaint in the Khamgaon police station in Buldhana.
Muktainagar MLA Eknath Khadse said that everything possible was being done to help these girls and their families. “Bulesterni Sati Bhosale, Deputy Sarpanch of Halkheda, told me about the rape and that three girls were pregnant. I immediately called the Jalgaon police and sought an inquiry. They called the Buldhana police because the incident happened there. The government will take cognisance of the case and the culprits will be given capital punishment,” Khadse said.
