MapmyIndia launches safemat, a safety device


New Delhi: Delhi based MapmyIndia, a provider of digital maps, GPS Navigation and tracking devices announced the launch of SafeMate on Wednesday. It is a dedicated personal safety device for woman and children and families. The device is available on Flipkart at Rs. 6,990.

SafeMate is a match-box sized device that can fit in a school bag, purse or a pocket and uses it’s built in GPS and internet connectivity to securely transmit live locations to the mobile phone and desktop. An SOS button can be pressed in the case of an emergency which sends an SMS to designated people.

Rashmi Verma, Director and Co-founder of Mapmy India said that the initial response from parents, women and young children has been positive. She also added that we wanted to keep things simple so that the technology can be used in most stressful situation.Guardians can track loved ones by using SafeMate Companion app. This app available on Google play store or MapmyIndia’s website. SafeMate comes loaded with Rs 3,600 worth of sim card connectivity charges and subscription fees.
