Maoists put up posters opposing Obama’s visit


Tirunelveli: A state run tourist resort in Wayanand in North Kerela was attacked by suspected Maoists on Sunday. The Maoist escaped into the forests after vandalizing the premises and wrote slogans against US President’s visit of the country.

According to reports, a group of six member Maoist team carrying fire arms and wearing masks, broke into the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation’s resort located in the forests and damaged computer and glass panes.

They also wrote slogans against Obama on the walls of the resort. The gang entered at around 3 AM shouting slogans against the central and the state Governments and littered the place with Maoist literature.

However two groups of tourists staying at the resorts were not harmed by the Maoists.

The posters and leaflets thrown around the premises carried the name of CPI(Maoists) Western Ghats Regional Committee. Poilce have launched a search operation against the Maoists who fled in the forests on Kerala-Karnataka border.
